When I was much younger, I used to wait in anticipation for my gifts to arrive as Christmas draws near. That was all I was excited for when it came to Christmas. I also remembered my siblings and I used to 'guess' on what will we be getting for our Christmas presents, and I've always wish for a stationary set or a perfect dress.
As years went by, the number of gifts seem meaningless to me. It decreases. What I wanted or wish for was more than just gifts. I wanted 'quality' gifts. I wish for a new handphone, a laptop, a MP4, a car... the list goes on. These selfish desires brought disappointments and frustrations after all whenever Christmas draws near.
Not until I found and received the greatest gift of all. This special gift, is given to all mankind. A gift that no one else can offer or take it away. It's the gift of salvation. When Jesus was born into this world, in Him we found hope. For many, hope is just a wish, a dream. But hope does exist.
Christmas, can be just another festival; when the decorations are down, the carols are unsung, when gifts are unwrapped, and turkeys are not in the menu. But Christmas is full of hope, because Jesus is the reason that we celebrate.
Now, I've found a better reason to celebrate this joyous occasion. For me, the day when Jesus was born, speaks about hope. And since Christmas falls at the end of the year, it gives me even greater hope to face the new year ahead.
No more wish list for me anymore, because the greatest gift had been given to me. It's a timeless gift that you and I can ever have. Pass it on today.
~have a blessed Christmas~
